| Enjoying China on a day off from work |
AIESEC, is an organization in over 100 countries dedicated to helping students get a global perspective by means of international internships. I joined this organization a year ago and have helped send several people all around the world to gain training for their dream jobs. AIESEC is also how I got my internship teaching English last summer in China. The experience I gained from that job changed my view on my post-graduation career options and inspired me to get a job teaching English.
Internships are available in nearly any country you could want to go to, in any subject you could desire. Some opportunities for this summer include:
- Working as a travel blogger in Egypt
- Utilizing graphics design in Sweden
- Teaching English in Poland
- Doing credit analyse in Canada
- Working on social development in Columbia
- Assisting at a summer camp in Russia
- Engineering in Turkey
- Hundreds of more opportunities!

| Interns and the local AIESEC committee last summer |
The process is simple and anyone in college or within at least two years of graduation can apply to an AIESEC internship. You may be interested in other organizations but truly, as someone who's been abroad with and without AIESEC, the benefits are way greater through this organization.
Firstly, you're much more likely to get the internship. Since so few people have access to these resources, there are less applicants. So much so, I'm comfortable in saying that you will probably get any internship that you apply to. Secondly, you will be supported by the local AIESEC committee while you are abroad. They'll make sure your visa is in order, pick you up from the airport, be your translator, and help you adjust to your new life. Seriously, AIESEC members are some of the best people and I'm still in contact with the friends I made that summer. They showed me all the best clubs and bars, helped me travel, and made sure that I had an absolutely amazing time while I was in China.
Also, most of these internships are paid (or at the very minimum, free housing and food). Sooo, have I caught your interest yet? Contact me for more information and to start on applying for your summer internship!

Do we just go to the AIESEC website and register?
ReplyDeleteThere are two sites to sign up on, one we use for managing people who are signing up and another that you use for finding internships.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is aieseconline.net and you have to sign up with a school and be approved. If your school doesn't have aiesec, sign up with mine. It's Miami University of Ohio.
The other site is myaiesec.net and this is where you can browse internships. There is a fee to use this site so I suggest that you email me first and let me know what kind of internship you're looking for so I can make sure that there is something for you before you spend your money!
