Hello, Colorado!

26 August 2013

So, it's been a little quiet around here lately, eh? Between wrapping up work and life in Ohio and establishing some roots here in Colorado I've been a little bit busy. Here's a quick update on what I've been up to:

-Drove for two days from Akron, Ohio to Denver, Colorado. The drive itself was uneventful and took about 22 hours total. Best road side sign award goes to "Come see the world's largest gopher!" I think second place goes to "Come to the world's 2nd friendliest yarn store!"

-Lived in a hotel for a week and freaked out over finding an apartment. Apparently people don't like renting apartments to people who don't have jobs?

Unpacking is a long process
-Found an AMAZING apartment just outside of Denver and moved in with my new roommate that I met via Craigslist. Seriously, I love my place so much! Good size, cheap rent, every store you could possibly need is near by, and it only takes 20 minutes by light rail to get to downtown. How did I get so lucky?!

-Hit the main street of Denver and had fun checking it out things to do. We got some great Mexican food, stopped in at a brewery, and even stumbled upon a Coyote Ugly. It was an interesting experience...

-Went on an awesome hike and freaked out over the beauty of Colorado. Seriously, everything is so much different from Ohio. I can't wait to see what autumn looks like!

And beyond that I've just generally been hanging around, getting to know my new neighborhood, and making my apartment feel like a home. Oh yeah, also I've been looking for a job. I know people find a job then move, but why be conventional?

Anyone know Colorado and have some road trip suggestions?

  1. Colorado is one of my favorite states that I have visited. Although I am not a big fan of cold weather, the scenery in Colorado is absolutely beautiful. I wish you the best there! Have a great time!

  2. How exciting! I've heard some good things about Denver. I can't wait to hear all about your adventures there. And hey- we did the same thing you're doing- move first then jobs. It works out.

    1. Yeah, luckily I've been saving all through college so there's no rush to get a job right away!

  3. Nice board! With fall coming it just so happens that winter comes after that! (Is your mind blown?) Why not apply to a ski hill? Teach snowboarding to tykes who do nothing but fall. I've debated doing this for a winter on top of my full time job. Just an idea anyway.

Good luck! I have a good friend in Colorado Springs and I haven't seen a bad landscape yet!
