Happy Blogiversary20 November 2013
Can you believe it? Today marks my one year anniversary of blogging here on Driftwood & Daydreams. So much has changed in that time since I posted my first blog which was nothing but pictures of France. Hardly anything exciting but every blog has to start somewhere! Here's a recap of what has happened in this passed year and what is to come:
Most Popular Post: Studying Abroad in France or The Shit Pamphlets Won't Tell You
In fact, many of my most popular posts concern studying abroad but this one takes the cake! With over 4,000 reads, I hope this post has helped at least one person prepare for their time in France!
Most Talked About Post: A Day in Yellow Springs; The Perfect Itinerary
This post received a whopping 46 comments, many of whom were locals who lived in Yellow Springs voicing how much they loved this city. Really shows you how great Yellow Springs is. I'd love to go back one day!
May 11th, 2013 I graduated with a degree in French & East Asian Languages and Cultures.
Places Visited: With college, most of my initial writings focused around what I had done in the past. However, I did make some trips around Ohio. In addition a made a spring break trip to tour the capitol, Washington DC and then moved to Colorado in August.
But, if you follow me on Twitter, you've probably realized that I'm no longer in Colorado. In fact, I've been back in Ohio for about a month now. As much as I loved Colorado and wanted to make it work, I had to be honest with myself and admit that this wasn't the place for me. There were simply no jobs for someone with my degree. After almost three months of trying, the only job I was offered was as a crew member at Wendy's. So I packed up my car and came back to Ohio. I figured if I was going to work a shit job for money, I might as well do it somewhere that I have friends and family.
I am a bit disappointed that Colorado didn't work out but I look at it as a great learning experience. With my time in between job searching I studied up on blogging a lot. I used that time to learn about SEO, how to actually use social media, and how to make my blog grow. Plus being unemployed allowed me to be able to frequently host couch surfers and travel all around Colorado which created great content for my blog.
So what's next for Driftwood & Daydreams? Just one word:
That's right, in two weeks I'll be moving to Hawaii, the Aloha State! Any tips on what I should see/do out there?
