3 Hikes that Will Make You Fall in Love with Oregon22 March 2015
Living in Oregon for nearly 4 months now has taught me one undeniable truth; this state has some of the most varied and beautiful scenery of any place I've seen in America.
Waterfalls larger than those I saw in Hawaii, deserts like New Mexico, and mountains on par with the slopes of Colorado will satisfy whatever type of outdoor activity you prefer. Here are some of my favorite hikes so far:
The water may be cold but the views are amazing! This light hike at Cape Meares State Scenic Point is an enjoyable way to pass the afternoon and see the natural beauty of Oregon. Time your visit right and you can see migrating whales!
Misery Ridge Loop
You'll think you're in the Southwest on this desert hike at Smith Rock State Park! It starts off flat then becomes a fairly intense hike up to a peak that will give you an incredible view for miles. Also a great site for those who enjoy rock climbing.
Drift Creek Falls
For some classic Pacific Northwest scenery, take this wooded hike in the Siuslaw National Forest. Everything is a lush green on this moderate hike and as you get closer to the falls, the air gets mistier, creating beautiful beams of sunlight through the trees. The picturesque cable suspension bridge provides for a great viewing area of the 65-foot waterfall.
